Agartala, Tripura, 14th of December, 2025 : With the initiative of Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission under Rural Development Department organized 20th Regional SARAS Fair at the International Fair Ground Hapania, Agartala, Tripura on Saturday (13th December, 2025). In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the 20th Regional SARAS Fair by lighting the lamp.

Addressing at the inaugural ceremony of 20th Regional SARAS Fair, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that Self-reliance can be the only path for women to attain self-respect. However, it is not enough to become self-reliant individually; one must also help others to access and embrace the same opportunities. According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, women are symbols of strength. When women become self-reliant in society, it becomes possible to build a strong nation and a strong society.
“The present Central and State Governments are taking various initiatives for the overall development of women. The State Government aims to ensure progress for women in every field and thereby take society to greater heights. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for “Vocal for Local” has opened a new horizon on the path to women’s self-reliance. The State Government has placed the highest emphasis on further strengthening the system of forming self-help groups to achieve women’s self-reliance. As a result, more than four lakh women in the State are now associated with self-help groups.”, Chief Minister added.

Highlighting the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Saha remarked that the present Government is working not only towards women’s self-reliance but also for their empowerment, education, prevention of domestic violence, and the provision of improved healthcare services. Women police stations are being set up to ensure women’s safety. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, houses, under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, gas connections, are now being issued in the names of women of the household.The fair reflects a rich blend of cultural traditions.
At the event, the Chief Minister inaugurated various products of self-help groups and also unveiled the cover of “Pratyasha,” the souvenir of TRLM. A total of 411 stalls have been set up at the fair.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO), TRLM Tarit Kanti Chakma delivered welcome address at the inaugural session of the event. Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were, Hon’ble Deputy Speaker of Tripura Legislative Assembly Ram Prasad Paul, MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, Hon’ble Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Dipak Majumder, Acting President of West Tripura Zilla Saha-Sabhadipati Biswajit Shil, District Magistrate and Collector of Dr. Vishal Kumar and many other distinguished dignitaries were present in the inauguration ceremony.
