Agartala, Tripura, 14th of September, 2025 : With the initiative of the Institution of Engineers (India) Tripura State Centre In association with Engineering Service Associations, Engineering Institutes and Professional Engineering Organizations celebrating 58th Engineers’ Day on 15th September said at press conference at Agartala Press Club on Saturday (13th September, 2025).

At the Press conference authority also said that, A great personality in the field of engineering in the history of India, Bharat Ratna Sir Muksagondam Visvesvaraya was born on September 15, 1861 in the village of Mudenhalı in Karnataka This village is at the foot of Nandi Hills in Karnataka Everyone called him M. V He started his studies in the city of Chikkaballapur as a child. Then he jomed the Wesleyan High School in Bangalore After completing his schooling, he studied at the Central College in Bangalore. In 1881. he secured first place in the university and passed his B.A. He passed his engineering in 1883. He also came first in the engineering examination of the University of Bombay MV received the very rare and prestigious James Berkeley Medal from the University of Bombay. M.V. used to think day and night about the control of rivers, water, and floods. He did not work a mere eight-hour job. His outstanding skills in water distribution planning have been noticed by everyone. Under the Bombay Presidency, water supply to Kolhapur, Belgaum, Dharwar, Bijapur. Ahmedabad and even Pune was built on the plans of M.V. He reached such a height that the British government even made M. V. work in their own country. M.V. arranged water supply to the port of Aden. In fact, M.V. took up the plan to build the Hirakud dam on the Mahanadi, which once swept away Orissa, to stop the flood. The flood in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad has been stopped as per M.V.’s advice. The Tiger Dam in Gwalior, the Krishnarajasagar dam on the Kaveri River bear testimony to M. V’s work. The king of Mysore gave him the responsibility of many departments. He gave him the responsibility of the industries and education departments, and the development of the railway department. M. V. was the president of the Mysore Economic Conference. His contribution in the field of education cannot be overstated. M. Visvesvaraya was the founder of Mysore School. He was also the founder of the famous University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering in Bangalore. He also founded an agricultural college. This college is now known as the “University of Agricultural Science. He built a polytechnic college in Bangalore. He remained in the policy-making committee of the Indian Institute of Science until 1947. M. V received a lot of recognition and honors in his life. In 1912, the Maharaja of Mysore chose Visvesvaraya as his Dewan, that is, his Chief Minister In 1915, he achieved the title of knight. In 1955, the Government of India honored him with the highest award Bharat Ratna. We cannot forget his contribution to the formation of the country and the management of technical education in the country.
He is recognized as the pioneer of economic planning in India. His Economic Plan for India. Planned Economic System and the Building of a New India are recognized as the first document of economic planning for India as a guide for economic planners. The responsibility of completing the foundation stone that he land to take India to the golden peak of technology lies with all the engineers of India today. Therefore, today, on this great day, inspired by the architect of modern India, Sir M. Visvesvaraya, we are moving forward to realize his dreams. This great engineering personality M. Visvesvaraya left us on April 14, 1962 at the age of 101
September 15 is celebrated as Engineers’ Day across the country. This day is celebrated as Engineers Day as the birthday of Bharat Ratna Sir Moksagundam Visvesvaraya, an outstanding engineering personality of India Remembering his outstanding achievements. The Institution of Engineers (India) has been celebrating this day as Engineers’ Day since 1968. This year is the 58th Engineers Day. Seminars will be held across the country on the main theme “Deep Tech & Engineering Excellence: Driving India’s Techade”.
In our state, various programs have been organized throughout the day by the Public Works Department of the Tripura Government and the Institution of Engineers (India), Tripura State Centre and in collaboration with all engineering educational institutions and various associations. On September 15th, at 6.30 am, a colourful morning ferry program will be held for all engineers and engineering students from in front of Ujjayanta Palace. The Honourable Minister of the State’s Higher Education, Panchayat Department, Shri Kishore Barman, will be present as the chief guest in the morning ferry. At 11.15 am, a blood donation camp will be held at Pragya Bhavan in Gurkhabasti, like every year. The Honourable Chief Minister of the state, Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, will be present as the Chief Guest in the blood donation camp. Then. at 11.30 am, a discussion meeting on the main idea of Engineers’ Day will be held in Hall No. 1 of Pragya Bhavan. Gurkhabusti. The Chief Guest of this seminar will be Hon’ble Chief Minister of the state. Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, Shri J. K. Sinha, Hon’ble Chief Secretary of the Government of Tripura Apart from this. Secretary of the Public Works Department. Shri Kiran Gitte, and Secretary of the Urban Development. Rural Development and Power Department. Shri Abhishek Singh, will be present as special guests. Like every year, the Engineer of the Year award will be given to Engineer Sushant Dutta, fiead of the School of Logistics, SIPARD. Prof. (Dr) SK Patra, Hon’ble Director of N. IF Agartala will speak oo the main theme of the seminar. The program will be presided over by the Honourable Chairmon of the Institution of kangaucers (lodias, Tripura State Centre Engmeer Paramananda Sarkar Banerjee and the welcome address will be delivered by Engineer Rajab Debbarota, Chief
