Sonamura Police Destroyed 41 Plots & Eliminating Nearly 1.80 Lakhs Ganja Trees.

Sepahijala, Tripura, 29th of January, 2026 : On the basis of secret information Sepahijala District Police, in joint operations with 81 BN BSF, TSR battalions, Forest officials and other agencies, carried out a massive crackdown on illicit Ganja (cannabis) cultivation on Thursday (29th  January, 2026) from the morning 7:40 am at various locations of the district.

According to report, on the basis of secret information at Sepahijala District Police, conducted raid and searched in joint operations with 81 BN BSF, TSR battalions and other agencies at Kamalanagar , KrishnaDola, Dulunga , Bijoy Nagar in forest land and total found 41 nos. ganja plant plot, where approx total  1.80 lakhs mature  ganja plant destroy on spot. This operation conducted jointly by Sonamura PS, 81 BN BSF, 5th BN TSR, 9th BN TSR, 11th BN TSR, 14BN TSR, 14 BN Women TSR , 35 BN Assam Rifles, Sonamura Forest our sisters agency. Which  have been  planted covering the area approx 65 acres in forest land. The destination market value of the seized ganja is approx – 27 crores.

Interacted with media Inspector Tapas Das, Officer in Charge Sonamura Police Station gave details about this today. OC also stated that such operations against illegal contrabands would continue next day.
