Amarpur, Tripura, 30th of January 2026 : During joint patrolling period of FPU Ampi, B.O Abdul Basit of Chechua and B.O Dharmajit Singha of Taidu a vehicle loaded with illegal timbers was recovered from the Jaksia village under Palku VC, Tuidu PS in Ampi Nagar block in Gomati Tripura.

As per the report, based on secret information when the forest officials were on duty last night found this numberless vehicle which was running towards its destination. Immediately officials of the forest department chased the truck and after long struggling they have succeeded to catch the round timbers loaded vehicle. Seeing the situation critical all the three culprits including driver have immediately escaped from the spot. Later on, information was sent to Amarpur higher authority of the department and SDFO came from Amarpur and seized the vehicle.

Sources said the market value of the recovered timbers is approximately 80000 rupees. It is noticeable that due to constant illegal timbers trade many matured plants have been disappeared from the both sides of Teliamura-Amarpur road and forest property has been widely destroyed.
