Agartala, Tripura, 3rd of February, 2026 : The Indian Audit & Accounts Department (IA&AD) All India Inter Zonal Table Tennis Tournament 2025-26 was inaugurated today at NSRCC, Agartala. The four-day national sporting event is being hosted by the Office of the Principal Accountant General (Audit), Tripura.
The tournament features 21 champion teams from across the country representing the North, South, East, and West Zones. Approximately 108 members, all zonal winners, are competing in the championship, promising high-quality matches marked by discipline, competitive spirit, and sportsmanship.
Senior Deputy Accountant General (Admn), Shri Kavyadeep Joshi, welcomed all participants and officials. He also sincerely thanked the Tripura Sports Council for their support and cooperation in organizing the tournament.
Olympian and Padma-Shri awardee Ms. Dipa Karmakar graced the occasion as distinguished Guest. Addressing the gathering, she encouraged participants to pursue excellence with dedication and perseverance, underlining the transformative role of sports in building character and resilience. She also remarked that sporting achievements have brought Tripura, particularly Agartala, into national prominence, with people across the country now recognizing the state for its contributions to Indian sports.
Principal Accountant General (Audit), Shri Shailendra Vikram Singh, in his address, emphasized that sports transcend regional boundaries and foster unity, teamwork, and mutual respect.
Deputy Accountant General, Shri Himanshu; along with other senior officers, officials, and sports enthusiasts were present at the ceremony.
The event commenced with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries. The formal inauguration was marked by Ms. Dipa Karmakar and Shri Shailendra Vikram Singh striking the ceremonial table tennis ball, symbolically declaring the tournament open.
The championship aims to strengthen camaraderie and healthy competition among employees across zones while promoting physical fitness and sporting excellence.
The matches will continue over the next four days and will conclude with the finals and prize distribution ceremony on February 6, 2026, at the same venue.
