Sonamura Police Destroyed 30 Nos. Ganja Plots & Eliminating Nearly 80 Thousand  Ganja Trees, Worth Approx – 12 Crores.

Sonamura, Tripura, 15th of February, 2026 : On the basis of secret information Sepahijala District Police, in joint operations with 81 BN BSF, TSR battalions, Forest officials and other agencies, carried out a massive crackdown on illicit Ganja (cannabis) cultivation on Sunday (15th February, 2026) from the morning 7 am at various locations of the district.

According to report, on the basis of secret information at Sepahijala District Police, conducted raid and searched in joint operations with 81 BN BSF, TSR battalions and other agencies at Kamalanagar, Krishna Dola, Ghatigarh,in forest land and total found 30 nos. ganja plant plot, where approx total 80 thousand  mature  ganja plant destroy on spot. This operation conducted jointly by Sonamura PS, 81 BN BSF, 5th BN TSR, 9th BN TSR, 11th BN TSR, 14BN TSR, 14 BN Women TSR , 35 BN Assam Rifles, Sonamura Forest sisters agency. Which have been planted covering the area approx 30 acres in forest land. The destination market value of the seized ganja is approx – 12 crores.  

Interacted with media Inspector Tapas Das, Officer in Charge Sonamura Police Station gave details about this today. OC also stated that such operations against illegal contrabands would continue next day.
