Historic Pledge By Two Teachers Against Child Marriage In Satnala Draws Widespread Response.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 22nd of February, 2026 : In Satnala village of North District, two teachers — Ajanta Ray and Debashis Das — have taken an exceptional initiative to build awareness against child marriage. Their historic pledge created a strong wave of response across the area on Sunday, fostering a renewed atmosphere of social consciousness throughout the village. On Sunday morning, a massive awareness rally was organized from the premises of Satnala Higher Secondary School. Students, teachers, and local residents actively participated in the rally. Through impactful slogans and placards, participants highlighted the harmful consequences of child marriage. Later, the main program was held at the local community hall, where a significant number of villagers were present. The local Sub-Inspector (SI) and MDC attended the event and praised the initiative.

MDC said, “The social leadership demonstrated by Ajanta Ray and Debashis Das is rare. Such initiatives can show the way forward for the future of the state.”Ajanta Ray stated, “When a girl student’s dream is shattered, it is not only a family that suffers, but the entire society.”Meanwhile, Debashis Das remarked, “Beyond the law, awakening the conscience of society is the true key to lasting change.”During the event, distinguished personalities of the area were honored with awards and certificates under the title ‘Pride of Satnala.’ The program concluded with villagers taking a collective pledge to make Satnala a child-marriage-free village.With this initiative, the two teachers have now emerged in discussions across the state as pioneers of social change.
