Dharmanagar, Tripura, 5th of March, 2026 : Residents of Harichand Road under Ward No. 19/20 of Padmapur in Dharmanagar town are facing severe inconvenience due to a long-standing leakage in the water supply pipeline. Water continuously gushes out from the broken pipe in the middle of the road, causing persistent waterlogging in the area.According to local sources, despite repeated complaints, the concerned department has not taken any permanent action to resolve the issue.

Recently, the road was newly paved with pitch, but the damaged water supply pipe was not repaired beforehand. Instead, the road was hastily paved without addressing the underlying problem. As a result, every morning during water supply hours, water gushes out through the broken pipe and spreads across the road. This has already started damaging the newly laid pitch, raising concerns that the road may soon fall into a dilapidated condition again.Local residents allege that the situation has arisen due to the negligence and careless attitude of the water supply department. Although government funds were spent to construct the new road, the failure to resolve the basic issue has now put the entire work under question.
Residents said that the pipeline should have been repaired before carrying out the road work. “The pipe should have been fixed first and then the road paved. Now the newly constructed road is getting damaged, yet no one is taking responsibility,” locals remarked. Questions have also been raised regarding the role of the ward councillor. According to residents, despite the problem being visible for a long time, no effective initiative has been taken from their side. Similarly, the water department has also failed to take concrete steps to resolve the issue. At present, waterlogging on the road is creating difficulties for both pedestrians and vehicles. Now the residents are waiting to see when the concerned departments and public representatives will take proper action to permanently solve the problem.
