Dharmanagar, Tripura, 6th of March, 2026 : A devastating fire incident created panic in Bires Para, Ward No. 7 of West Haflong under Dharmanagar subdivision on Friday afternoon. The only dwelling house of Samiran Tanti was completely burnt to ashes in the blaze, leaving the family devastated and homeless within moments.According to family sources, the fire caused an estimated loss of around ₹5 lakh. Important documents, furniture, and almost all household belongings kept inside the house were destroyed in the flames. The family is now passing through an extremely helpless situation.

At the time of the incident, Samiran Tanti’s father, Gaya Prasad Tanti, had gone to Dharmanagar for personal work. Later, upon returning to Haflong Bazaar, he received the shocking news that their house had caught fire and everything had been reduced to ashes. Meanwhile, Samiran Tanti and his wife had gone to a distant well to take a bath. Hearing the cries of neighbors, they rushed back home and witnessed the horrific scene of the fire.The Dharmanagar Fire Service Department was informed immediately. However, due to the lack of a proper road in the area, it took more than one and a half hours for the fire brigade vehicle to reach the spot. By then, the fire had already spread rapidly and engulfed the entire house.The exact cause of the fire is still unknown. The incident has created deep concern among local residents.
They also alleged that despite repeated claims of development, a proper road has not yet been constructed in the area. As a result, the delay in the arrival of the fire brigade worsened the extent of the damage.Following the incident, residents of Bires Para have raised strong demands for development in the area.
