Dharmanagar, Tripura, 12th of March, 2026 : On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Dharmanagar Sub-Divisional Committee of the All India Democratic Women’s Association organized a colourful programme in Dharmanagar town on Thursday. Along with the celebration of the day, the organization’s foundation day was also observed with due dignity.In the morning, a protest rally was taken out in the town under the initiative of the sub-divisional committee. A large number of women activists and supporters participated in the rally. The participants raised slogans demanding the protection of women’s rights and democratic values. The rally passed through several important roads of the town and voiced strong protests for the protection of women’s rights.

Women leaders participating in the rally called for a movement highlighting four key demands. These included the immediate implementation of reservation for women, stopping any conspiracy to curb voting rights, preventing attacks on the livelihood of common people, and halting any assault on the Constitution of the country. In their speeches, the leaders emphasized that true democracy cannot be established unless women’s social, economic, and political rights are ensured.Among those present at the programme were Amitabh Dutta, the Left Front nominated candidate for the Dharmanagar Assembly by-election, and Ratan Ray, the sub-divisional secretary of the organization, along with leaders and supporters from various levels. They expressed solidarity with the women’s movement and stressed the need to further strengthen women’s participation in society.
A brief programme was also organized to mark the foundation day of the organization. During the event, state committee member Sathi Bhattacharyya hoisted the organization’s flag. Other dignitaries present included state committee member Hasi Bhattacharyya, district secretary Utpla Sharma, sub-divisional secretary Bijita Nath, and several other leaders and members of the organization.In their speeches, the leaders stated that the organization has always played a leading role in fighting against violence, discrimination, and the deprivation of women’s rights in society, and that this struggle will continue in the future as well.
The rally and foundation day programme organized on the occasion of International Women’s Day emerged as a symbol of unity and movement for women’s empowerment in Dharmanagar. The leaders of the organization expressed hope that such programmes demanding women’s rights and social justice will continue in the future.
