69th Padmabil Indurail Duganga Ambika Kund Baruni Fair: Devotees Flock For Holy Dip.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 18th of March, 2026 :On the afternoon of March 17, the three-day sacred bathing (punya snan) began at the historic 69th Padmabil Indurail Duganga Ambika Kund in Panisagar subdivision, on the occasion of Madhukrishna Trayodashi, marking the Baruni Mela. The auspicious inauguration rituals were held on March 16.From early morning on March 17, hundreds of devotees gathered to take a holy dip in the sacred waters of Ambika Kund. After the ritual bath, devotees offered prayers at the temples of Lord Mahadev and Goddess Ambika located within the (premises). The sacred bathing programme was formally inaugurated by Dilip Kumar Nath, descendant of the late Sukumar Nath—the visionary founder of Ambika Kund—and Vice President of the Temple Management Committee.

Among others present were Committee Secretary Satyendra Deb Nath, Treasurer Srikrishna Deb Nath, and other members.It is worth mentioning that the Indurail Duganga Ambika Kund Baruni Mela is not only an ancient religious festival but also a symbol of communal harmony. In this hilly region, people from various communities—including Bhil, Oraon, Halam, Muslim, and Hindu—coexist, making the fair a unique platform of unity and cultural integration.However, the Temple Management Committee informed that due to restrictions imposed by the North District Administration and Panisagar Sub-Divisional Administration on all fairs and festivals until April, the traditional grand fair could not be in its full form this year. Despite the absence of an official announcement, hundreds of devotees and vendors gathered, bringing life to the event with their stalls and offerings, thus preserving its 68-year-old tradition.The Committee further stated that the sacred Baruni bathing programme at Ambika Kund will continue on Wednesday as well.
