Dharmanagar, Tripura, 20th of March, 2026 : In view of the upcoming by-election to the 56 Dharmanagar Assembly Constituency, the administration has intensified security measures across the town. As part of these efforts, a large contingent of police and TSR personnel, led by Officer-in-Charge Meena Debbarma of Dharmanagar Police Station, carried out a flag march across Dharmanagar town on Thursday night.

According to sources, the flag march covered key areas of the town, including markets, busy intersections, and other sensitive locations identified by the authorities. The primary objective of this show of strength was to instill a sense of security among the public and to prevent any untoward incidents ahead of the elections. Police officials stated that such proactive measures are being undertaken to ensure that the by-election is conducted in a peaceful, free, and fair manner. Surveillance across the town has also been increased to maintain law and order.
Local residents expressed that the flag march would help boost public confidence and contribute to a safer and more transparent electoral environment.Sources in the administration further indicated that as the election date approaches, monitoring and patrolling in various areas will be intensified to ensure that peace and order are not disrupted under any circumstances.
