Agartala, Tripura, 21st of March, 2026 : With the initiative of the National Oral Health Programme, National Health Mission, Tripura observed World Oral Health Day, in association with Indian Dental Association, Tripura State Branch and AGDC & IGM Hospital at Prajna Bhavan, Agartala, Tripura on Saturday (21st March, 2026).
In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated has inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial Lamp.
Addressing at the celebration ceremony of World Oral Health Day Hon‘ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that The availability of advanced healthcare services in the state has significantly improved. As a result, the number of patients being referred to other states is gradually decreasing, since advanced treatment facilities are now accessible within the state itself.
“The State Government has taken the initiative to establish a medical university with the aim of further improving the healthcare education system in the state. To enhance medical services, there are plans to set up a new 100-bed tertiary hospital in the State. Raising awareness in the field of oral health is important. Children should be made aware of dental care and various health-related issues from an early age.”, Chief Minister Dr. Saha added.
The Chief Minister also added that the improvement of the state’s medical infrastructure, kidney transplants are now being successfully performed. In the coming days, initiatives will also be taken to introduce liver transplant services. Doctors must continuously enhance their knowledge while providing medical services. At the same time, they should build their confidence through regular practice and professional experience.
Highlighting the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Saha remarked that students pursuing studies in various fields of medical science should always remain eager to learn about new developments in the discipline. This will help them become proficient in areas such as surgery and other branches of medicine. He also stated that, alongside improving healthcare services, the government is placing special emphasis on making the state free from AIDS and substance abuse, and has taken various measures toward this goal.
Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, Director of Health and Family Welfare Dr. Anjan Das, Director of Medical Education Dr. H. P. Sharma, and the President of the state branch of the Indian Dental Association and many other distinguished dignitaries were present in the event. The welcome address was delivered by the Mission Director of the National Health Mission, Tripura, Dr. Nupur Debbarma.
