Agartala, Tripura, 22nd of March, 2026 : The Utkal Ladies of Odia Samaj Tripura celebrated World Pakhala Diwas 2026 with great enthusiasm at Sangam Banquet Hall, marking the occasion as part of the global recognition of Odia cuisine associated with a Guinness World Record achievement.

The event witnessed active participation from members of the Odia Samaj Tripura ladies members, who prepared and brought a variety of traditional Pakhala dishes and authentic Odia cuisine from their homes. The celebration was highlighted by a vibrant community lunch, reflecting unity, cultural identity, and shared heritage.
The programme also aligned with the larger global celebration through participation in a virtual conference organised by the Government of Odisha, connecting the local gathering in Tripura with worldwide observances of Pakhala Diwas.

Pakhala, a traditional fermented rice dish, holds deep cultural and nutritional significance in Odia society, especially during the summer season. The recent Guinness World Record recognition has further elevated its status as a symbol of Odisha’s rich culinary heritage on the global stage.
Speaking on the occasion, members of Utkal Ladies emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting traditional food practices among younger generations while strengthening community bonds beyond geographical boundaries.

The celebration concluded on a joyful note, reinforcing cultural pride and the jtcollective spirit of the Odia diaspora in Tripura.
