Agartala, Tripura, 25th of March 2026 : On specific information of the Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF) secret operation was launched in Agartala Railway Station on Wednesday (25th March, 2025).

According to the sources, RPF & GRP, arrested one drug peddlers from Agartala Railway Station, and seized a total of 26.350 KG dry cannabis (Ganja). He wanted to take it to other state by train using Agartala railway station.
According to sources, GRP & RPF of Agartala, at about 3 PM managed to catch one person namely Amit Debnath (26), S/O- Sri Dhruba Debnath of South Tara Nagar, Mohanpur, PS-Sidhai, West District, Tripura at parking area in between RPF Post Agartala and pay & use toilet of Agartala Railway Station along with total 26.350 KG of suspected to be contraband narcotic Ganja in his duffle bag. The value of this Ganja is Rs-5 lakh approx in black market.
Accordingly GRP & RPF of Agartala have arrested him and seized the contraband narcotic Ganja. A specific case vide Agartala GRPS case no-2026GRP019, U/S-20(b)(ii)(C)/29 of NDPS Act 1985 has registered against him.
Interacted with media Inspector Raju Bhowmik, Officer in Charge Agartala Railway Police Station gave details about this today. OC also stated that such operations against illegal contrabands would continue next day.
