Dharmanagar, Tripura, 7th of April, 2026 : In Kathuachhara area of Balichhara village, near Kherengjuri in Dharmanagar subdivision of North Tripura, tensions arose on March 29 during the occasion of Ram Navami. Members of the Halam community, followers of Sanatan Dharma, reportedly faced while attempting to perform at the residence of Lakshicharan Halam.

According to allegations, some local members of the Christian community objected during the ritual and stated that permission from them would be required to conduct any religious in the area. This led to a tense situation in the locality.Following the incident, a section of people allegedly spread rumors claiming that a nearby church had been locked. However, local residents have strongly denied these claims, calling them baseless and false. There were also allegations from some quarters blaming the BJP and Vishwa Hindu Parishad for involvement in the incident.
However, members of the Hindu community have completely rejected these accusations, describing them as politically motivated.On the other hand, residents of Katuachhara emphasized that there has been long-standing harmony between Hindu and Christian communities in the area, with no history of communal conflict. They believe the incident was the act of a few miscreants attempting to create unrest, which ultimately failed due to the collective efforts of sensible local residents.Speaking to the media, Joma Halam, representing the local residents, detailed the and urged the administration to take appropriate action against those responsible. At the same time, residents appealed to everyone to maintain peace and communal harmony.
