Dharmanagar, Tripura, 15th of April 2026 : In an innovative initiative to encourage young voters, the district administration organized the “Ink Lagao, Selfie Lo” contest ahead of the by-election in the 56 Dharmanagar Assembly Constituency. The winners of the contest were felicitated by the District Magistrate of North District, Chandni Chandran.The primary objective of the recently held selfie contest was to motivate young voters to actively participate in the democratic process. A large number of young participants took part by clicking selfies showing the ink mark on their fingers after casting their votes. The contest received an overwhelming response across Dharmanagar subdivision.

According to the district administration, such creative initiatives have played an effective role in increasing voter awareness and boosting voter turnout. The contest, in particular, gained significant popularity among the youth.
At a brief the District Magistrate handed over prizes to the top five winners. The winners were Nilanjana Bhattacharjee, Tamashree Sen, Sneha Chowdhury, Amrita Sinha, and Nabajit Das.After receiving their awards, the winners expressed that the initiative had encouraged them to participate in voting and that they would continue to take part actively in the democratic process in the future.District Magistrate Chandni Chandran said, “The youth are the future of the nation. Without their active participation, it is not possible to build a healthy democracy. Such initiatives aim to make them more aware and responsible citizens.”Overall, the “Ink Lagao, Selfie Lo” contest proved to be not just a competition, but a successful effort in promoting democratic awareness among voters.
