Khowai, Tripura, 18th of April 2026 : Post-Poll Violence has reportedly across the State following the results of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections.
According to report following the announcement of the Autonomous District Council election results, incidents of post-poll violence were reported. Unprecedented political violence erupted across various areas of Khowai district—particularly in the 9 Halahali Asharambari, 10-Kulai Champahour, and 12 Ramchandraghat, constituencies—immediately after the announcement of the ADC election results.
Around 184 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters have taken shelter at the Khowai district office amid election-related violence. Allegation Tipraha Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA Motha) party supporters set fire to the house of Rajkumar Debbarma last night, reducing all belongings—including documents, furniture, cash, and gold ornaments—to ashes at Kachubari under Halahali Asharambari.
The house of Yuva Morcha president Sutambar Debbarma was vandalized and set on fire in the East Rajnagar under the Kulai Champahour constituency. In the same area, another worker, Rozel Debbarma, had his pigs taken away. In the 12 Ramchandraghat area, the house of BJP-nominated candidate David Debbarma was also attacked.
In the Ampura area, TIPRA Motha supporters carried out an attack on the house of BJP booth president Dwaipayan Debbarma. Failing to find him at home, they assaulted his father, Nripendra Debbarma, with a wooden plank, resulting in a fractured hand.
In the Ramchandraghat area, the house of Saranjit Debbarma was also attacked, and furniture was vandalized.
Hon’ble Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy visited the affected areas for an on-the-spot assessment. He was accompanied by MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury, District General Secretary Samir Kumar Das, Mandal President Anukul Das, and other party leaders.
