Dharmanagar, Tripura, 28th of April 2026 : Over the past few days, continuous Kalbaishakhi storms have left the Dharmanagar subdivision of North Tripura severely affected. According to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Dharmanagar, nearly 140 houses have already been damaged due to strong winds and heavy gusts. The administration fears that the extent of damage may increase, as reports are still coming in from various areas.

The storm has uprooted large trees at around 40 locations across the subdivision. This has disrupted electricity services in many areas, as power lines and poles have suffered extensive damage. In several localities, electricity supply has yet to be restored, causing significant hardship for residents.
Administrative sources stated that tehsildars and other officials will soon conduct field visits to assess the exact extent and nature of the damage. They will evaluate the condition of each affected family and prepare a comprehensive report.

The SDM said that financial assistance from the government relief fund will be provided based on this assessment report. Meanwhile, efforts are underway to restore electricity and drinking water services and to clear roads as quickly as possible, said Dharmanagar SDM Debjani Chowdhury.
