Mumbai, Maharashtra, 26th of April 2026 : In the podcast In-Controversial with Pooja Chaudhary, actor Aditya Uppal candidly shared the eight-year-long struggle behind his powerful role as ‘ASP Umar Haider’ in the film Dhurandhar. Starting his journey in theatre, Uppal revealed how he faced multiple failed auditions and financial responsibilities, which led him to work in advertising, though he never gave up on his passion for acting.

He said that seeing pride in his family’s eyes after the film’s release is his biggest achievement. Speaking about working with director Aditya Dhar, he described the experience as “professionally calm and disciplined,” where every actor remained focused on their performance.
Uppal called working with Sanjay Dutt “a dream come true,” while Ranveer Singh’s intensity and dedication constantly pushed him to improve. To bring authenticity to his character, Uppal underwent rigorous preparation, from weapons training to refining his body language. Addressing the ongoing debates around Dhurandhar, he stated clearly that the film has been made with honest intentions, and the audience’s love is the biggest validation.
