Dharmanagar, Tripura, 18th of May 2026 : Dharmanagar District Hospital, considered the last hope for the people of North Tripura, has now allegedly become a shameful symbol of extreme mismanagement, insecurity, and administrative negligence. The very hospital where ordinary people rush for treatment is reportedly witnessing disturbing scenes in its OPD premises, including used contraceptives, drug-use syringes, empty foreign liquor bottles, and several other filthy and objectionable items scattered around. This situation is not only alarming but also raises serious questions about the entire healthcare system.

According to a hospital employee, such anti-social activities are not new. For the past several days, as evening falls, the hospital premises have allegedly become a hotspot for indecent activities, alcohol consumption, drug abuse, and various illegal acts. Allegations have also surfaced that the hospital’s security system has virtually collapsed. A place meant for public healthcare has reportedly turned into an unrestricted gathering spot for anti-social groups.
Most concerning is the claim by Medical Superintendent Bhaskar Das that he was unaware of such activities taking place within the hospital premises. Responding to journalists’ questions, he stated that he had no prior knowledge of these incidents. Although he assured strict action against those responsible, serious questions are now being raised: What was the administration doing all this time if such a filthy and dangerous environment could develop in a hospital visited daily by thousands of patients?
Local residents are now asking one pressing question — is Dharmanagar District Hospital still a center for healthcare, or has it become a safe haven for anti-social activities? Concerned citizens of Dharmanagar are demanding that the authorities immediately identify the culprits and ensure strict punishment, warning that administrative negligence and lack of security are putting ordinary people’s lives at serious risk.
