Khowai, Tripura, 8th of June 2026 : On specific information of the Forest Department, under Baijalbari Police Station, Khowai secret operation was launched in Khowai on Sunday (8th June, 2026).
Khowai Forest Department official Susmita Das stated that, based on specific intelligence inputs received on the previous day, officials of the Khowai Forest Department conducted a surveillance operation near Warren Tu Bari under Baijalbari Police Station and set up an ambush to intercept suspected illegal activities.
During the operation conducted before dawn today, officials intercepted two timber-laden vehicles carrying registration numbers TR06C1816 and TR01BB1732, and took them into custody for further investigation.
Khowai Forest Department official Susmita Das stated that approximately 180 cubic feet of illegal timber was seized during the operation. She described the seizure as a major achievement for the Khowai Forest Department after a long period.
The operation was carried out in the presence of Ashok Kumar, an official of the Khowai District Forest Department, and Bimal Shukla Das, Forest Range Officer, along with other forest department personnel.
