Hyderabad, Telangana, 14th of June, 2026 : World Events Economy Week (WEEW) 2026 continued its successful run on Day 2 at HITEX Exhibition Centre, Hyderabad, bringing together wedding professionals, hospitality leaders, destination specialists, policymakers, and industry stakeholders from across India.

As part of the ongoing 5th South India Wedding Planners Congress, one of the key highlights of Day 2 was a thought-provoking panel discussion titled “Wed in India: Are We Ready?”
The session featured the participation of Shri Hari Kishore, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, who shared valuable insights on the Government of India’s vision, policy initiatives, and strategic roadmap for positioning India as a preferred global destination for weddings. The discussion focused on infrastructure readiness, destination development, stakeholder collaboration, and opportunities for strengthening India’s wedding tourism ecosystem under the broader “Wed in India” initiative.
On this occasion,A. Balaram Babu, Organising Secretary, WEEW and President, Telangana Chamber of Events Industry (TCEI), said, “SWAAN Awards 2026 marks its third edition, and the competition has never been more intense. With over 200 nominations received across various categories, wedding planners from across the industry are vying for this prestigious recognition. What sets the SWAAN Awards apart is its rigorous and transparent selection process. The winners are chosen by an eminent jury comprising retired bureaucrats and distinguished industry stalwarts with deep domain expertise. To ensure the highest standards of fairness and credibility, the audit and adjudication process was independently overseen by a Senior Counsel of the High Court. Over the years, the SWAAN Awards have earned immense respect and acclaim within the wedding industry, emerging as one of the most coveted recognitions. Winning a SWAAN Award is increasingly regarded as a hallmark of excellence, making the competition fiercer with each passing year”.

Celebrating Excellence Through the SWAAN Awards
Another major highlight of the day was the prestigious SWAAN Awards, instituted to recognise excellence, innovation, and outstanding contributions by wedding planners, artists, photographers, filmmakers, entertainers, and allied service providers who continue to elevate the standards of India’s wedding industry.
This year, the awards received an overwhelming response with over 150 entries from across the country, spanning 35 categories. Winners were selected through a structured evaluation process conducted by an independent jury panel, with awards presented in gold, silver and bronze categories.
Among the notable award winners:
Best Sangeet Event and Best Wedding Event (Gold Award) were jointly won by Shruthi Jain, Happy Weddings, Indore, and Bahanan K. Areeckal, Scenario Wedding Planner, Kerala.
Best Wedding Photography (Gold Award) was won by Abhiram Rajan, ShutterBig Film Company, Bengaluru.
Best Wedding Videography (Gold Award) was awarded to Deepak Vijay, Bengaluru.
DJ of the Year (Gold Award) was won by Siddarth Talwar, Delhi.
Best Mehendi Event (Gold Award) was awarded to Srivalli Padmanabhini, Sri-Bhi Events.
Best Reception Event (Gold Award) was won by Jagadeeswari Event Planners, Hyderabad.
The awards celebrated the creativity, professionalism, and innovation that continue to drive India’s rapidly growing wedding and celebrations economy.
With strong participation from industry leaders, planners, destinations, and hospitality stakeholders, SIWPC continues to reinforce its position as one of India’s most influential platforms for the wedding and celebrations sector.

WEEW 2026 will continue with India for MICE on June 14 and conclude with the Creative Economy Conclave on June 15, bringing together leaders from business events, tourism, media, culture, technology, and creative industries.
