Dharmanagar, Tripura, 18th of June 2026 : An elderly man sustained serious injuries in a head-on collision between a scooty and an ambulance on Wednesday (17th June, 2026) afternoon in front of Durga Bari at Thana Road in Dharmanagar, North Tripura.The injured person has been identified as Parthajit Bhattacharjee (68). He was rescued in critical condition and admitted to Dharmanagar District Hospital for treatment.
According to local sources, the scooty involved in the accident bore registration number TR05A6995, while the ambulance was registered as TR01L1082. Eyewitnesses claimed that the front tyre of the moving ambulance suddenly burst, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. As a result, the ambulance collided head-on with the scooty coming from the opposite direction.The impact of the collision threw the scooter rider onto the road, leaving him seriously injured.Personnel from the Dharmanagar Fire and Emergency Services quickly arrived at the scene, rescued the injured man, and transported him to Dharmanagar District Hospital.He is currently undergoing treatment under the supervision of doctors at the hospital.
Hospital sources stated that his condition is being closely monitored. Preliminary reports suggest that he suffered severe injuries to one of his legs.Upon receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. The incident created panic and commotion in the area for some time.
