Agartala, Tripura, 23rd of June 2026 : The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Regional Office, NE Region, conducted the 3rd Tripura Regional Board Meeting on 22nd June 2026 at Secretariat Building, New Capital Complex, Agartala.

The meeting was chaired by Shri Tinku Roy, Chairman of the Tripura ESI Regional Board & Hon’ble Labour Minister, Government of Tripura. Dignitaries from the State Government who attended the meeting where Shri Tapash Ray, Secretary, Labour Department; Shri Biswajit Paul, CEO, ESI Scheme; Shri Binoy Bhushan Das, Joint Labour Commissioner; and Dr. Manabendra Reang, representative from the Directorate of Health Services (DHS).
Dr. Alka Pal, Medical Commissioner, NE Zone, joined the meeting in hybrid mode. From ESIC, Shri Ahtesham, Deputy Director and Officer-in-Charge of the Regional Director (NE Region), and Dr. Hiranmayee Sarma, State Medical Officer Dr. Bhumidahar Barman, Nodal Officer, Sh. Manish Pal, AE and Sh. Suman Kumar, JE attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the Hon’ble Chairman emphasized upon the need to register various municipal corporations and urban local bodies present in the State under the ESI Scheme. In view of the forthcoming implementation of the Code on Social Security, he advised ESIC officials to visit rubber processing units, tea plantation units located across Tripura to facilitate their coverage under the Scheme. The Hon’ble Chairman also suggested shifting the Dharmanagar ESI Dispensary to a more suitable location to ensure easy and hassle-free access for Insured Persons (IPs) and beneficiaries. Stressing the importance of ESI awareness, he remarked that a joint awareness campaign involving local representatives, Chairman Block Panchayat along with Labour Department would be more effective in spreading awareness about the ESI Scheme.
Shri Tapash Ray, Secretary, Labour Department, highlighted the importance of conducting joint inspections by ESIC in coordination with the Labour Department to bring more employers under the ambit of the Scheme. He further emphasized the need for awareness initiatives through digital platforms, local television channels, and digital hoardings displaying numerous ESIC benefits across the city.
Dr. Alka Pal, Medical Commissioner (NE Zone), shared her views on improving medical service delivery across ESI dispensaries. She also suggested exploring the possibility of establishing a Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra in the dispensaries to facilitate the availability of medicines for IPs and beneficiaries and for empanelment of various Hospitals in all the districts of Tripura.
Shri Ahtesham, Member Secretary and Regional Director In-Charge, ESIC NE Region, reiterated the need for joint inspections with the Labour Department to enhance coverage under the Scheme and also for awareness & coverage through State Govt. Public Relation Department. He also informed the Board that the process for the formation of a Medical Board in Tripura is underway.
Representatives of employers and employees, namely Shri Binay Malik, Shri Tanuj Saha, Shri Sujanta Deb, and Shri Subrata Debnath, were also present at the meeting. The employee representatives emphasized that awareness through social media platforms is the need of the hour to improve outreach and participation under the Scheme.
