Agartala, Tripura, 26th of June 2026 : With the initiative of Agartala Press Club organized Friendly Football Match at Umakanta Stadium Agartala, Tripura on Friday (26th June, 2026). The aim of promoting camaraderie, harmony, and sportsmanship among journalists, organized its annual Sports Fest friendly football match today. The exciting fixture was held at Umakanta Stadium on Friday morning, beginning at 8:30 AM.

Continuing a tradition from last year, members of the Agartala Press Club took to the field as Team A and Team B, engaging in a competitive yet friendly football match that showcased teamwork and sportsmanship.
The match was organized with the overall support of the Tripura Football Association (TFA). The event generated considerable enthusiasm among media professionals and football enthusiasts, with a lively atmosphere prevailing at the stadium from the early hours of the morning.
Both teams matched each other stride for stride in an engrossing contest, forcing the match into a penalty shootout after regulation time failed to produce a decisive result.
In a tense tie-breaker, Agartala Press Club Team B emerged victorious, defeating Team A by 4–2 to lift the championship title.
The contest featured spirited leadership from the winning team’s captain, Abhishek Debbarma, and the runners-up captain, Santosh Gope. Their tactical approach, along with the determined performances of players from both teams, made the friendly encounter highly competitive and thoroughly entertaining for everyone present.
The event was graced by several office-bearers of the Agartala Press Club, who encouraged the players from the sidelines. Those present included Sports Sub-Committee Chairman Alok Ghosh, Vice-President Chitra Roy, Treasurer Ranjan Roy, and Assistant Secretary Kamal Chowdhury.
The event was also attended by Tapan Saha, Joint Secretary of the Tripura Football Association (TFA), Krishnapada Sarkar, and several other senior officials of the Agartala Press Club and the TFA, whose presence added prestige to the occasion.
The indoor events of the Agartala Press Club Sports Fest will begin tomorrow with a Ludo Competition at the Press Club. The competition is slated to commence at 3:00 PM.
Sports Committee Convener and Assistant Secretary Abhishek Dey has requested all participating journalist-players to report at the Agartala Press Club by 2:30 PM to ensure the event begins on time and all necessary formalities are completed before the competition gets underway.
