Dharmanagar, Tripura, 30h of June 2026 : Police in Damcherra, a border area between Tripura and Mizoram in North Tripura district, achieved another major success in their ongoing anti-narcotics drive. During a late-night operation on Sunday (28th June, 2026), Damcherra Police seized approximately 1.5 lakh Yaba tablets with an estimated black-market value of ₹7.5 crore.

One person has been detained in connection with the case.According to police sources, the seizure was made during a routine naka checking and vehicle inspection. A luxury vehicle aroused suspicion, prompting officials to conduct a thorough search. To ensure legal compliance, the search was carried out in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, the SDPO, and representatives from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL).
During the search, police recovered around 150,000 Yaba tablets concealed in specially built hidden compartments inside the vehicle. Authorities estimated the international market value of the seized narcotics at approximately ₹7.5 crore.One individual has been taken into custody and booked under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police have launched a detailed investigation into the case.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the consignment originated in Myanmar and was being transported through Mizoram and Tripura with the intention of being smuggled into Bangladesh. Police are continuing efforts to identify and apprehend other members of the interstate and international drug trafficking network.Police sources stated that a series of successful anti-drug operations in North Tripura’s border areas in recent months has significantly strengthened surveillance against international narcotics trafficking.
