Dharmanagar, Tripura, 10th of July 2026 : On the occasion of National Fish Farmers’ Day, the Fisheries Department organized a one-day sub-divisional workshop on Friday (10th July, 2026) at the Fisheries Department Training Centre in Dharmanagar, North Tripura. The workshop focused on encouraging local fish farmers to adopt modern, technology-driven fish farming practices, enhance production, and achieve self-reliance. A tree plantation drive was also conducted as part of the celebration.The chief guest of the programme was Dharmanagar MLA Jahar Chakraborty.

Among the other dignitaries present were North Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Aparna Nath, Dharmanagar Municipal Council Chairperson Mitali Das Sen, the Chairpersons of Kadamtala, Jubarajnagar, and Kalacherra Blocks, Superintendent of Fisheries, Dharmanagar, Ankana Deb, other officials of the Fisheries Department, and several distinguished guests.
During the workshop, the speakers emphasized that the adoption of modern technology, scientific fish farming methods, the use of quality fish seed and feed, and effective utilization of various government schemes can significantly improve the profitability of fish farming. They also highlighted several initiatives undertaken by the Central and State Governments to promote the socio-economic development and self-reliance of fish farmers.One of the major attractions of the programme was the felicitation of successful and aspiring fish farmers. Selected beneficiaries were presented with large cooking pots and certificates of appreciation by the guests.
The awardees expressed their happiness and pledged to continue adopting improved fish farming techniques in the future.The participating fish farmers also received detailed information about various government schemes, subsidies, training programmes, and technical assistance available for the fisheries sector. Concluding the event, all participants highlighted the significance of National Fish Farmers’ Day and called for collective efforts to further strengthen and develop the fisheries sector.
