Agartala, Tripura, 24th July, 2026 : The College of Fisheries, Central Agricultural University (CAU, Imphal), Lembucherra, Tripura, virtually participated in the inaugural session of the National Buyer-Seller Meet cum Exhibition on Indigenous and Heritage Products of Northeast India, held on 24th July 2026 at the State Convention Centre, Shillong, Meghalaya.

The event was organized by the College of Community Science, Central Agricultural University (Imphal), Tura, Meghalaya, under the theme “From Heritage to Enterprise: Empowering Women Artisans in Northeast India.” The programme aimed to promote indigenous and heritage products of the North Eastern Region by creating market linkages, fostering entrepreneurship and empowering women artisans through greater access to buyers, institutions and stakeholders.
The inaugural programme was graced by Dr. Mehtab Chandee A. Sangma, Hon’ble MLA, Gambegre Constituency, as the Chief Guest, while Dr. Anupam Mishra, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Central Agricultural University, Imphal, presided over the function.

During the inaugural session, the dignitaries emphasized the rich cultural heritage and traditional craftsmanship of the North Eastern Region and highlighted the importance of value addition, branding, entrepreneurship and market-oriented interventions for enhancing the livelihoods of rural communities particularly women artisans. They also underscored the significant role of educational institutions, research organizations and extension agencies in promoting indigenous products and strengthening sustainable rural enterprises.
