New Delhi, Delhi, 26th of July, 2026 : Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned on Saturday (25th July, 2026) amid weeks of nationwide protests by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and student organizations over alleged examination irregularities, including the NEET paper leak controversy. The move marks a major political development, with the resignation being seen as a significant outcome of sustained youth-led demonstrations.

In his resignation, Pradhan stated that his decision was made in the interest of students and to ensure that the ongoing controversy did not adversely affect the country’s education system. His resignation comes after sustained demonstrations across several parts of India demanding accountability and reforms in the conduct of competitive examinations.

The protests, led by student organizations and supported by various groups, called for greater transparency in the examination process and action against those responsible for the alleged irregularities.

The resignation has been widely viewed by political leaders and analysts as a significant outcome of mounting public sentiment. Attention has now shifted to the appointment of a successor, alongside the government’s proposed measures to reform and strengthen the country’s examination framework.
