No Doctor Available At Sabroom Hospital at Midnight, Family Raises Concerns.

Sabroom, Tripura, 8th of August, 2026 : An alleged lapse in emergency medical services has raised concerns at Sabroom Sub-Divisional Hospital. A family arriving with their 19-day-old sick baby during late hours claimed they found the emergency department unattended. According to their allegation, the duty roster mentioned a doctor’s name, but no doctor, nurse, or security staff was available when they needed urgent assistance.

Although the name of the on-duty doctor, “Dr. Shubhranil, Sabroom SDH,” was mentioned on the duty chart, the emergency services allegedly remained unattended. Empty corridors and a deserted emergency section painted a contrasting picture, leaving a resident of Kathalchhari, Sabroom, distressed during last night’s incident.

At around 10:50 PM, the family reached Sabroom Sub-Divisional Hospital with their 19-day-old newborn, who was experiencing breathing difficulties after milk reportedly entered through the nose and mouth. However, upon arriving at the emergency department, they allegedly found no doctor, nurse, or security staff available to provide immediate medical assistance.

After searching for a long time and calling out for help, the victim, a resident of Kathalchhari, said that they were finally able to find a doctor.

The affected family member said, “At around 10:50 PM last night, I brought my 19-day-old baby to Sabroom Hospital as the child was facing breathing problems after milk entered through the nose and mouth. When I reached the emergency department, I found no doctor, nurse, or security personnel present. The area was completely empty and dark. After repeatedly calling for assistance, we finally managed to contact a doctor.”

He further added, “The government has invested a significant amount of money in developing healthcare infrastructure, but people are still struggling to receive basic medical services. I have often seen reports of similar issues at Sabroom Hospital on social media, and unfortunately, I experienced the same situation myself. I urge the authorities to take necessary steps to address this issue.”

Local residents have also expressed anger over such irresponsible conduct at Sabroom Sub-Divisional Hospital. People are questioning why such negligence continues to surface repeatedly despite the government spending crores of rupees on healthcare services. It remains to be seen what steps the health administration or the state government takes following this incident.
