Amarpur, Tripura, 10th of August 2026 : With the initiative of Ampi block TMP organization the World Indigenous Day 2026 was celebrated with due promptness and dignity here in Ampi Nagar community hall, Amarpur in Gomati Tripura on Sunday (9th August, 2026).
On this occasion a large number of indigenous people from different VCs of the block have assembled here in the programme venue and took active participation in the event. On the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples the TMP organization has conducted a rally which has initiated from the Ampi Zonal office premises and marched along Teliamura-Amarpur road at Ampi. In presence of many dignitaries the Ampi 23 constituency MDC Kamal Kalai has inaugurated the event.

Addressing the gathering MDC Kamal Kalai has said, “Today is the World Indigenous Day observation which is very significant for the indigenous communities all over the world. In this significant day all indigenous communities living in the planet remind their government respectively to provide their constitutional fundamental rights and secure their future by providing them different kinds of fundamental demands and amenities. Today the World Indigenous Peoples raise global awareness to protect and promote their culture, heritage, religion, attire and language on this world Indigenous Day; creates awareness amidst the native communities and inspire them to stand firm against the deprivation. The estimated 476 million indigenous people living across countries unitedly approach towards their genuine goal”.
Amidst the other distinguished dignitaries there were Sanjay Jamatia, Ampi block TMP president, Kalija Kalai, TWF president, Subal Das, TCF president, Debarshi Jamatia, YTF president, Deb Sadhan Jamatia, organizing secretary, Sukhendu Kalai, ZCM, Subhash Debbarma, former TMP block president, Vinkar Chakraborty, social activist and many others remained present in the programme.
