Agartala, Tripura, 13th of August, 2026 : The State Government will recruit 552 candidates for vacant posts across various departments. The decision was taken at Cabinet meeting. Hon’ble Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport and Tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury announced this at a press conference held at the Secretariat Press Conference Hall on Wednesday (12th August, 2026).
At the press conference, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury stated that, as per the Cabinet decision, 310 vacant posts in the Tripura Engineering Service will be filled through the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) for the posts of Junior Engineer, Grade-V (A) and Grade-V (B).
Under Junior Engineer, Grade-V (A), there are 169 vacancies in Civil, 8 in Mechanical, and 18 in Electrical Engineering. Applicants for these posts must have a B.Tech degree.
Under Junior Engineer, Grade-V (B), there are 104 vacancies in Civil, 5 in Mechanical, and 6 in Electrical Engineering. Applicants for these posts must have a Diploma in the relevant discipline.
Through the JRBT, recruitment will be conducted for 185 vacant Group-C posts of Junior Pump Operator under the Water Resources Department. Candidates must have passed Madhyamik (Class 10) and ITI.
Besides, 57 vacant faculty posts at the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry will be filled through direct recruitment. The TPSC will conduct the recruitment process for 17 Professor posts, 20 Associate Professor posts, and 20 Assistant Professor posts.
At the press conference, the Tourism Minister further stated that Permanent Resident of Tripura Certificate (PRTC) not mandatory for Government jobs in the state. Instead, candidates participating in the recruitment process must provide proof of having studied continuously for five years at any time between Classes I and XII at any school in the state.
Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that the decision was taken at today’s Cabinet meeting following the Tripura High Court’s direction to reconsider the requirement of PRTC for government jobs in the state. The direction came after a Delhi-based individual filed a petition before the High Court challenging the mandatory PRTC requirement.
The Tourism Minister also informed that the State Government has decided to allot 2.5 Ganda of land in Agartala city to Commonwealth Games gold medallist Asmita Dey. The government will also bear the allotment premium of ₹33,50,239. The Cabinet has also decided to establish new fire stations at Boxanagar, Manubankul, Garji and Ganganagar. He added that the GA (Political) Department provides various grants to the families of ex-servicemen in the state, and the Cabinet has decided to increase the amount of these grants.
