Security Guards Protest Over 11 Months Of Unpaid Salaries At Dharmanagar District Hospital.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 13th of August, 2026 : Twenty-seven security guards of Dharmanagar District Hospital staged an indefinite protest on Wednesday (12th August, 2026), alleging that their salaries had remained unpaid for the past 11 months. The security personnel sat in protest in front of the office of the hospital’s Medical Superintendent, Dr. Bhaskar Das, demanding immediate payment of their outstanding wages.

According to the protesting guards, they have been working at Dharmanagar District Hospital for a long time through the concerned NBS company. However, they alleged that they have not received their salaries for nearly 11 months. As a result, they said they are facing severe financial uncertainty and are struggling to support their families.One of the security guards said that the prolonged delay in receiving their salaries has made it extremely difficult to meet daily household expenses. Many of the workers have young children and depend entirely on their regular income. With their wages remaining unpaid for months, their financial hardship has intensified, they alleged.

Several employees who participated in the protest became emotional while speaking to the media about their problems. They claimed that the issue had been brought to the attention of the concerned authorities several times, but no effective initiative had yet been taken to clear the outstanding salaries.Meanwhile, questions have also been raised over the role of the concerned authorities after security personnel working at an important government healthcare institution allegedly remained unpaid for such a long period. The workers questioned why effective action had not been taken against the concerned company despite repeated complaints.

The protest also raised concerns about security arrangements at the hospital. Dharmanagar District Hospital receives a large number of patients and attendants from different areas every day. In such a situation, the absence of security personnel could potentially affect the overall security system of the hospital.To address the situation, Medical Superintendent Dr. Bhaskar Das spoke with the protesting employees. He said that discussions had already been held with the concerned company and that the company owner had been asked to come to Dharmanagar and make arrangements for payment of the workers’ outstanding salaries.

Following the assurance given by the Medical Superintendent, the security guards temporarily withdrew their protest. However, they maintained that they need more than assurances and demanded that their 11 months of unpaid salaries be cleared at the earliest.The key questions now remain how quickly the issue will be resolved, why the salaries of 27 security guards have remained unpaid for 11 consecutive months, and who will be held responsible for the prolonged delay.
