Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha Calls Upon Organisations To Come Forward For Noble & Welfare Works At Sanghati Club.

Agartala, Tripura, 15th of August 2026 : Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tripura Dr. Manik Saha today said that the state government is taking significant steps to transform Tripura into a medical hub. A Dental College and a Nursing College have already been established, while the foundation stone for an Eye Hospital has been laid. Initiatives are also underway to launch Homeopathic and Ayurvedic Medical Colleges and Hospitals. The state has already recorded nine successful kidney transplants, and preparations are being made to introduce heart and liver transplant services in the near future. The Chief Minister made these remarks while inaugurating the foundation anniversary celebration of Sanghati Club, along with a voluntary blood donation camp, posthumous eye donation, organ donation, and Aadhaar registration programme, organized as part of Independence Day celebrations at the Sanghati Club premises.

Praising Sanghati Club’s efforts, Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha said that club culture in the state is undergoing a positive transformation, with many clubs actively participating in social service activities such as blood donation and distribution of clothes. Describing blood donation as one of the noblest forms of service, he said it transcends caste, religion, and social divisions and represents the highest form of humanitarian contribution. He urged clubs, social organizations, and voluntary groups to take a greater role in such initiatives. Highlighting developments in the healthcare sector, the Chief Minister said that the quality of medical services in Tripura continues to improve. The number of MBBS seats in medical colleges has increased considerably, while the Dental College currently has 63 seats, with plans for further expansion. He also noted that the B.Sc. Nursing course has been introduced and that a 100-bed Eye Hospital is being developed. Several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) have been signed with various organizations to further strengthen healthcare infrastructure.

Dr. Saha stated that Tripura is progressing rapidly not only in healthcare but also in information technology, agriculture, and horticulture. He said the state currently ranks second among the Northeastem states in Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) and per capita income. Referring to a NITI Aayog report, he added that Tripura enjoys one of the best law-and-order situations in the country. Speaking on the significance of Independence Day, the Chief Minister said that despite centuries of invasions and foreign domination, India has preserved its rich cultural heritage and traditions. He called upon the youth to remain committed to safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty, integrity, and unity. He also highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” and noted that India is now the world’s fourth-largest economy.

Addressing the gathering, Sanghati Club General Secretary, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor, and MLA Dipak Majumder appealed to citizens to participate more actively in voluntary blood donation. He informed that Tripura currently has 12 government-run and two private blood banks.

Swami Shubhakaranandaji Maharaj, Head of Ramakrishna Mission, Viveknagar, announced that from September 4, the Ramakrishna Ashram at Gangail Road will begin offering classes in four foreign languages.

Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were corporators of the Agartala Municipal Corporation, noted social worker Amitabh Bhattacharya, and other distinguished guests. Before the programme, the Chief Minister visited the blood donation, eye donation, and body donation camps and encouraged participants. During the event, 47 people voluntarily donated blood, 16 pledged posthumous eye donation, and 11 pledged body donation, while 17 Aadhaar registrations were completed. The vote of thanks was delivered by Sanghati Club President Shishir Majumder.
