Guwahati, Assam, 20th of August, 2026 : The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Guwahati, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, successfully concluded a two-day Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP) at West Goalpara College in Goalpara district today. The programme focused on the themes of Census 2027 and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
Shri Kripa Shankar Yadav, Additional Director General, North East Zone, attended the inaugural programme as the Chief Guest on 18th August 2026. Addressing the gathering, he emphasised the importance of creating widespread public awareness about the upcoming Census 2027 and called for collective efforts to build a healthy and drug-free society.

Dr. Rofiqul Islam, Senior Medical and Health Officer (Psychiatry), spoke about the harmful effects of drug abuse and its impact on individuals, families and society at large. He also highlighted the importance of awareness, prevention and timely intervention in addressing substance abuse.
Officials from the District Social Welfare Department, Census Department, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Panchayat and Rural Development Department and Child Development Project Office (CDPO) participated in the programme as resource persons. They interacted with the participants and provided information on various aspects of Census 2027, government welfare initiatives, prevention of drug abuse, public health and other related issues.
An exhibition highlighting the themes of Census 2027 and Nasha Mukt Bharat was also organised as part of the programme. Informative materials, posters and visual displays were put up to educate visitors and generate greater awareness about the two themes.
A free health check-up camp was organised in association with the Goalpara District Health Department, where members of the public availed themselves of medical consultation and basic health services. The Bureau of Indian Standards also set up an awareness stall to disseminate information on standards, quality and consumer-related issues.

As part of the outreach activities, the registered cultural troupe presented a series of programmes based on the themes of Census 2027 and Nasha Mukt Bharat. Through music, drama and traditional performances, the troupe conveyed important social messages in an engaging and accessible manner.
The two-day ICOP aimed to disseminate information about important government initiatives, encourage public participation and strengthen awareness among the people.
