Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur’s 118th Birth Anniversary Observed With Due Respect In Dharmanagar.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 20th of August, 2026 : The 118th birth anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur, regarded as one of the key architects of modern Tripura, was observed with due dignity and respect in Dharmanagar on Wednesday under the initiative of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department of North Tripura District.

As part of the programme, floral tributes and garlands were offered at the portrait of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur at the Rajbari area of Dharmanagar on Wednesday morning. Speakers at the programme recalled the Maharaja’s visionary outlook and his historic contributions to the overall development of Tripura.His significant role in the fields of education, culture, administration, communication and infrastructure development was highlighted. Speakers noted that his initiatives and progressive ideas in taking Tripura towards modernity continue to serve as a source of inspiration for the people of the state. During his reign, the foundation for modern education, urban planning and various infrastructural developments was laid in Tripura. These initiatives played an important role in the state’s subsequent progress. Because of his visionary planning and welfare-oriented activities, Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur continues to be remembered as one of the principal architects of modern Tripura.

Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were North Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Aparna Nath, Dharmanagar MLA Jahar Chakraborty, Dharmanagar Municipal Council Chairperson Mitali Rani Das Sen, social worker Rupali Adhikari, social worker Arindam Dev, along with other social workers and dignitaries. All those present paid floral tributes to the Maharaja’s portrait and expressed their deep respect for his memory. Emphasis was also placed on highlighting the Maharaja’s life, vision and contributions to Tripura’s development among future generations. Through the tribute programme, the participants remembered the Maharaja’s remarkable contributions and ideals and expressed their resolve to carry forward the development of Tripura.
