Dharmanagar, Tripura, 28th of August, 2026 : The Tripura Khet Majdoor Union organized a march and deputation in Dharmanagar on Thursday (27th August, 2026), demanding solutions to various problems faced by workers and ordinary people. The organization submitted an eight-point memorandum to the District Magistrate and Collector of North Tripura.
The march began at around 1 p.m. from in front of the CPI(M) Dharmanagar Sub-Divisional Office. After passing through several important roads in the town, it concluded at the same location. Later, a five-member delegation visited the District Magistrate’s office and submitted the memorandum.The delegation comprised District Secretary Durgesh Roy, State Committee member Priti Bala Nath, District Committee member Niranjan Chakraborty, Panisagar Sub-Divisional Secretary Abani De and Dharmanagar Sub-Divisional Secretary Anukul Das.Among the demands were speedy geo-tagging for beneficiaries deprived of housing schemes, 200 days of work annually under MGNREGA with a daily wage of Rs 700, increased working days and wages for TUEP workers, and payment of pending wages.

The union also sought administrative intervention over allegations of wages being paid below the government-prescribed rates.Other demands included withdrawal of excessive electricity charges and smart meters, repair of damaged roads, settlement of land for landless people, supply of essential commodities at subsidized prices through the ration system, and an end to drinking water shortages.The union further demanded the immediate restoration of the non-functional iron removal plant and regular payment of social welfare allowances, along with an increase in the minimum allowance to Rs 5,000.The Khet Majdoor Union urged the district administration to consider the demands seriously and take necessary action at the earliest.
