Agartala, Tripura, 1st of September, 2026 : During the last three years seven Women Help Desks have been opened in different police stations across the state. Including these three, at present total 90 Women Help Desks are operational in the state. Replying to a question raised by MLA Sudip Sarkar, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha informed this in written form at the Assembly on Monday (31st August, 2026).
The Chief Minister informed that the State Police have taken various initiatives to fast-track cases of crimes against women. The OCs of all police stations have been instructed to take immediate action after registering a complaint/FIR and start investigation right away. SDPO, DSP and other senior police officers have been entrusted with supervising cases and giving necessary support if needed. Supervising officers have also been instructed to complete investigation within stipulated time and submit charge sheet in time.
In addition, women police stations have been established in every district. Officials posted in all the women police stations and Women Help Desks have been given special training to conduct women related cases suitably. The Chief Minister informed, the investigating officers are using mobile forensic, other technologies and scientific methods. Every police station is conducting awareness programs regularly. Through such programmes common people are being made aware about legal aspects, protection from domestic violence and different provisions of BNS related to crime against women.
