Belonia, South Tripura, 3rd of September, 2026 : Elections for 70 Village Committees across eight blocks of South District will be Held with a total of 177 polling stations. The district has a total of 1,15,355 voters, including 58,170 male voters and 57,185 female voters.
South District Magistrate Mohammed Sajad P shared this information during a press conference held today at the conference hall of the District Magistrate’s Office. The District Magistrate informed that 32 Sector Officers have been appointed for the election process. He stated that nomination papers can be submitted until 3:00 PM on 8th September. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted on 9th September, while candidates can withdraw their nominations until 3:00 PM on 11th September. Polling will be held on 28th September from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. If re-polling is required, it will be conducted on 3rd October. Counting of votes will begin at 8:00 AM on 5th October.
Additional Superintendent of Police Suman Majumder was also present at the press conference. He stated that adequate security arrangements would be made to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of the election process. The District Magistrate appealed to all responsible citizens of the district to cooperate in ensuring the peaceful completion of the election process by strictly adhering to the Model Code of Conduct.
