There Is Ample Scope To Develop Tripura Into An Important Centre For Research:  Science And Technology Minister Animesh Debbarma.

Agartala, Tripura, 4th of September, 2026 : With the aim of promoting research, innovation, and a scientific temperament among students in the field of science and technology, a workshop titled “Tech Talk – DBT Meets the Scholar” was organized today at Pragna Bhavan, Agartala. The workshop was inaugurated by Animesh Debbarma, Minister of Science, Technology and Environment. The event was organized by the Biotechnology Directorate and the State Biotechnology Council.

Inaugurating the workshop, he said that along with further improving the state’s research infrastructure, it is necessary to focus on creating suitable infrastructure and facilities for researchers. The role of research is extremely important in the advancement of science and technology. He said science has no fixed language of its own; curiosity and inquiry are its fundamental basis, and research begins from the desire to learn something new. There is ample scope to develop Tripura into an important centre for research. If researchers are provided with the necessary infrastructure and support, the scope of research in the state will expand further, enabling Tripura to move ahead in the field of science and technology. Along with encouraging this generation in research and innovation, it is also essential to create the necessary opportunities for them.

The welcome address at the event was delivered by Anjan Sengupta, Joint Director of the Biotechnology Department. At the event, the Minister of Science and Technology. along with other guests, unveiled a book titled “College Biotech Club.” A documentary on the College Biotech Club was also screened on the occasion.

Science and Technology Minister Animesh Debbarma felicitated Dr. Bidhan Goswami, Professor at Agartala Medical College, and Dr. Papri Das Sengupta, Professor at Ram Thakur College, who were present as special guests, honouring their contributions to research. The event was attended by officials of the Biotechnology Council and department, along with teachers, professors, and students from various colleges and schools. At the end of the event, a quiz competition was organized for students, and the winners were awarded prizes by Animesh Debbarma, Minister of Science and Technology.
