Mumbai, Maharashtra, 5th of September, 2026 : Amid India’s rapid urbanisation, industrial expansion and infrastructure development, prioritising safety alongside growth has become essential. The 9th edition of the Fire & Security India Expo (FSIE) 2026, held in Mumbai, brought together experts who shared insights on fire safety, emergency preparedness and advanced security technologies.
Maharashtra Minister of State Dr. Pankaj Bhoyar said India should not limit itself to adopting technologies developed abroad, but should focus on developing indigenous technologies and taking them to global markets. “We should not remain a country that only buys technology from the world; we must develop technology for the world. We should manufacture and produce here and create employment opportunities,” he said.
Minister of State Smt. Madhuri Misal cautioned against limiting fire safety to fire NOCs and certifications. She emphasised the need to move beyond a certificate-based approach and adopt a system of continuous safety, inspection, testing and maintenance.
The expo features more than 240 exhibiting brands and over 70 speakers. Technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), smart sensors, advanced fire detection systems, surveillance solutions, and integrated command and control systems are being showcased.
The event aims to help India move beyond a reactive approach towards proactive fire safety, enhanced emergency preparedness and the development of safer infrastructure.
