Sonamura, Tripura, 10th of September, 2026 : A minor school student was found riding a motorcycle during a vehicle-checking operation conducted in front of Sonamura Girls H.S. School by Sonamura police on Wednesday (9th September, 2026). Police questioned the student and later learned that he had obtained the motorcycle keys from his guardian before taking the bike onto the road.
The motorcycle owner, along with the minor’s parents, was called in for questioning. After following the required legal procedures, the authorities counselled them and strictly warned them against allowing the minor to ride a motorcycle.
The motorcycle owner was fined ₹25,000 under the relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act for encouraging a minor to ride the bike. Authorities have urged everyone not to allow any minor boy or girl to drive or ride any vehicle, including motorcycles and scooters.
