Journalist Suman Debnath’s Unnatural Death Casts A Shadow Of Grief Over Dharmanagar.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 19th of September, 2026 : A pall of grief has descended over the media fraternity in Dharmanagar following the unnatural death of young journalist Suman Debnath. He died under unnatural circumstances at his residence in the Rajbari area on Thursday night. The exact cause of his death is yet to be ascertained. Police at Dharmanagar police station have begun an investigation into the incident.

Suman Debnath had been associated with journalism for a long time. Actively involved in news gathering and reporting, he was regularly seen travelling across different parts of Dharmanagar in the course of his work. His sudden death has left his colleagues and acquaintances deeply shocked and grief-stricken.According to family sources, journalism was a familiar profession in his family. His late father, Swapan Debnath, had also worked as a journalist for many years. He had served as a correspondent for the state’s daily newspaper Syandan. Suman Debnath entered the world of journalism under his father’s guidance.After taking a break from journalism for some time, Suman returned to the profession. He subsequently began working as a correspondent for Prime 24 Tripura. Through his active involvement in news gathering and his courageous approach to reporting, he soon became well known among his colleagues.

As news of his death spread on Thursday night, his colleagues rushed to his residence in Rajbari. Dharmanagar police were informed, and officers reached the spot and recovered the body. It was sent to Dharmanagar District Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.The post-mortem examination was completed by Friday afternoon, following which the body was handed over to the family members. His last rites were performed at Dharmanagar Mahashmashan at around 4 p.m.CPI(M) State Secretariat member Amitabha Dutta was present at the funeral. He paid his respects to the deceased journalist and expressed his condolences to the bereaved family.The untimely death of Suman Debnath has cast a deep pall of grief over the journalistic community in Dharmanagar. His family and colleagues are mourning the sudden loss of a young and active journalist.
