Sonamura, Tripura, 20th of September, 2026 : Once again on specific information of the Sonamura Police, in joint operations with 81th BN BSF and 11th BN TSR conducted raid and search and recovered 110.67 Kg Dry Cannabis (Ganja) and recovered at Dhanpur under Sonamura Police Station on Saturday (19th September, 2026) last night.
According to Sonamura PS in another anti-narcotics operation, Sonamura Police acted on a tip-off and intercepted a white Bolero near Dhanpur Bazar during the early hours of the morning. The vehicle was stopped on the main road leading from Dhanpur towards Induria. Police reportedly recovered 67.110 kg of dry cannabis from the vehicle, concealed in 16 packets wrapped with black plastic tubing. The driver was detained in connection with the seizure.

After completing the required legal formalities, police officially seized the recovered cannabis and the vehicle at the spot. An NDPS Act case was registered against the accused and his alleged associates in connection with the recovery. The driver of the vehicle, described by police as an alleged drug peddler, was later produced before the Hon’ble Sonamura Court, where police sought custody for further investigation.
The court, after reviewing the case diary, approved four days of police custody for the accused. A special police team has since begun detailed questioning at Sonamura Police Station. According to police, the interrogation has provided several leads regarding the activities connected with the case. These inputs are being examined in coordination with intelligence agencies at both the state and central levels, and further legal action will follow if sufficient evidence is found.
