In Memory of Zubeen Garg, North District Judo Association Organizes Tree Plantation Drive.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 22nd of September, 2026 : On the occasion of the first death anniversary of legendary artist and musician Zubeen Garg, the North District Judo Association organized a tribute and tree plantation program in Dharmanagar. The program was held in front of the Gaurishekhar Ray Indoor Stadium at the BBI Complex in Dharmanagar. Along with paying tribute to the late artist, the initiative also conveyed a message of environmental conservation and afforestation.The program began with a tribute to the memory of Zubeen Garg. Those present recalled his musical journey, creativity, and contributions to the cultural sphere. They also discussed the special place he created in people’s hearts through his songs and artistic works.

Following the tribute, a tree plantation drive was conducted on the premises of the Gaurishekhar Indoor Stadium. According to the organizers, the initiative was aimed at maintaining environmental balance, increasing greenery, and encouraging the younger generation to develop a sense of responsibility toward nature.Those present at the event included Tripura Sports Council judo coaches Biman Baidya and Shilpi Ray, along with Khelo India judo coach Mithun Mog. Judo trainees from Dharmanagar, sports enthusiasts, and several prominent local residents also participated in the program.

The organizers stated that the main objective of the initiative was not merely to commemorate the late artist through a formal tribute, but also to spread a positive message about social and environmental responsibility.
