CPI(M) Protest In Dharmanagar Condemning Attack On Manik Sarkar.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 29th of September, 2026 : : The Communist Party of India (Marxist), or CPI(M), organized a protest march in Dharmanagar on Tuesday (29th September, 2026) over the alleged attack on former Tripura Chief Minister and senior CPI(M) leader Manik Sarkar.CPI(M) State Secretariat member Amitabha Dutta, subdivision secretary Ratan Roy, district secretary Abhijit De, along with several other party leaders, workers and supporters, participated in the protest march. The protesters strongly condemned the incident and demanded an end to political violence, as well as legal action against those allegedly involved.

According to party sources, tension arose on September 27 at Kalibazar in the Bamutia area of West Tripura during a programme involving Manik Sarkar. It has been alleged that when Sarkar was on his way to attend the programme, workers and supporters of the ruling party blocked his vehicle and attempted to prevent him from reaching the venue. It was further alleged that one of the vehicles in Sarkar’s convoy was vandalized.

The incident reportedly led to tension in the area for around 30 to 40 minutes. After the situation came under control, Manik Sarkar reached the venue and attended his scheduled programme.Following news of the incident, the CPI(M) began protesting against it. Tuesday’s protest march in Dharmanagar was part of that continuing campaign. Participants condemned the alleged obstruction of political programmes, vandalism of vehicles and incidents of political violence.

CPI(M) leaders said that political differences are a natural part of a democratic system, but obstructing political programmes, attacks and violence cannot be accepted. They called for a peaceful political environment in the state and an end to all forms of political violence.

At the conclusion of the march, the party leadership demanded an impartial investigation into the incident. They also called for those responsible to be identified and for legal action to be taken against them.
