New Delhi, Delhi, 30th of September, 2026 : The Digital India BHASHINI Division (DIBD), under the Digital India Corporation (DIC), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, in collaboration with the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG), today launched “CAG-BHASHINI Anuvaad”, an AI-enabled document translation solution developed by BHASHINI to support the translation of official CAG documents and audit-related reports. The solution was launched during the closing ceremony of the 74th Hindi Diwas and Hindi Pakhwada 2026 at the CAG Office, New Delhi.
The event was attended by Shri K. Sanjay Murthy, Comptroller and Auditor General of India, along with senior CAG officials, including Shri A. M. Bajaj, Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General; Dr. Nilotpal Goswami, Additional Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General; and Shri Atoorva Sinha, Director General, as well as other officials and dignitaries.
The launch marks an important step in bringing Language AI into institutional workflows, combining BHASHINI’s multilingual language technology capabilities with the specialised language requirements of the CAG. The initiative is designed to support translation of official and audit-related documents while complementing existing institutional processes and maintaining appropriate human oversight.
CAG-BHASHINI Anuvaad has been developed as a customised Language AI solution for the CAG, with a focus on supporting consistent terminology, contextual translation and quality of output. The solution provides an AI-enabled environment for translation of official documents while addressing institutional requirements relating to security, controlled access and data sovereignty.
The collaboration reflects the broader potential of Language AI to support government institutions in making official information more accessible across languages. By integrating multilingual AI capabilities into established institutional processes, the initiative seeks to facilitate wider and more efficient access to official information in Indian languages.
The programme featured a presentation on Digital India BHASHINI’s Language AI capabilities, highlighting its applications across government and public-facing services. The event also marked the formal launch of the CAG-BHASHINI Anuvaad solution at the CAG Office.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Amitabh Nag, CEO, Digital India BHASHINI Division, highlighted the evolution of BHASHINI across language data and AI models, applications and use cases, and the development of a sovereign Language AI ecosystem suited to India’s linguistic diversity.
He highlighted that BHASHINI currently supports 36 Indian text languages, 23 Indian voice languages and 35 international languages, and is being applied across a growing range of public-service use cases. These include multilingual agricultural advisory, voice-enabled grievance registration and processing, and conversational services that enable access through voice and telephone-based interfaces.
Shri K. Sanjay Murthy, Comptroller and Auditor General of India, emphasised the importance of ensuring that audit findings and reports reach citizens in languages they understand. He highlighted the potential of technology to facilitate access to audit information in local and regional languages, while complementing efforts to strengthen the use of Hindi and other Indian languages in official work.
Shri Nilotpal Goswami, Additional Deputy Comptroller & Auditor General (Rajbhasha), Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, said, “The fusion of artificial intelligence and communication has the potential to overcome linguistic barriers across geographies. By integrating language technology into our institutional processes, we can make communication more accessible, timely and effective, while strengthening the use of Indian languages in governance and official work. The CAG-BHASHINI initiative is an important step in bringing this convergence of language and technology into practice.”
BHASHINI and CAG collaborate on technology-enabled Hindi Pakhwada activities
The collaboration between CAG and BHASHINI also extended to the Hindi Pakhwada 2026 programme, organised from 14 to 29 September 2026. Alongside conventional Hindi language activities, the collaboration introduced technology-enabled language activities and games developed with BHASHINI, providing officers and employees an opportunity to engage with language technology in an interactive format.
A large number of officers and employees participated in various competitions and activities during the Hindi Pakhwada. The programme included activities related to official language usage, Hindi noting and drafting, translation, typing and other language-based skills, along with BHASHINI-enabled activities.The winners of the competitions were felicitated and awarded prizes during the closing ceremony. The ceremony also included the presentation of awards and certificates to the winners, recognising their participation and performance during Hindi Pakhwada.
The programme featured a presentation on the use of digital language technologies, along with demonstrations and activities aimed at familiarising officials with the growing role of technology in Hindi and Indian-language usage. The collaboration demonstrated how Language AI can support not only translation and official workflows, but also interactive language engagement and participation within government institutions.
The launch of CAG-BHASHINI Anuvaad, together with the technology-enabled Hindi Pakhwada activities, represents a broader collaboration between CAG and BHASHINI to explore practical applications of Language AI in institutional settings. The initiative brings together language technology, human expertise and institutional requirements to support greater multilingual access to official information.
