Awareness Programme On Child Protection And Prevention Of Child Marriage At Pekuchhara Higher Secondary School.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 7th of October, 2026 : An awareness programme was organized at Pekuchhara Higher Secondary School in Panisagar subdivision of North Tripura district to raise awareness among students about child rights and protection, prevention of child marriage, child labour, child trafficking, and gender-based discrimination.

The programme was organized by the District Social Welfare and Social Education Department, with the support of the District Hub for Empowerment of Women, North District. During the event, the students were given detailed information about child protection and the harmful effects of child marriage.The programme also focused on preventing child abuse and trafficking, rescuing children in distress, and informing students about ways to access government assistance.

The importance of Child Helpline 1098 was highlighted, and students were urged to contact the number promptly in case a child is in danger or needs assistance.A quiz competition on gender-based discrimination, child marriage, and child protection was also organized with the participation of the students.The speakers present at the programme emphasized that ensuring a safe environment for children requires the collective efforts of families, schools, and the administration. They stressed that greater awareness can help build an effective response against social problems such as child marriage, child labour, and child abuse.
