Agartala, Tripura, 10th of October, 2026 : As part of the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme, the ‘Josh Team’ initiative has been launched across the country with the aim of building a TB-free India. The initiative was formally launched at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. On this occasion, a programme was organised at Matangini Pritilata Hall on Thursday (8th October, 2026) by the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme under the National Health Mission and the District Health and Family Welfare Society. The initiative was formally launched for West Tripura district during today’s programme.

Inaugurating the event, West Tripura Zilla Parishad Acting Chairperson Biswajit Shil said that collective efforts were essential to achieve the goal of a TB-free India. He stressed that efforts should not remain confined to organising programmes and raising slogans, but must reach the grassroots level to protect people from the disease. He also emphasised the need for more awareness programmes on tuberculosis in rural areas.

MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, Director of Health Services Dr Debashree Debbarma, Director of Family Welfare and Disease Prevention Dr Anjan Das, Joint Director Dr Nupur Debbarma, ‘My Bharat’ Director Mehbub Alam, and others were present as special guests. West Tripura Chief Medical Officer Dr Shankar Chakraborty delivered the welcome address. During the programme, TB-free Gram Panchayats in West Tripura district were felicitated and awarded for their achievements.
